John is the Principal of the Las Vegas-based economic and financial consulting firm RCG Economics. For eight years, John was the Director of Financial Advisory Services in Las Vegas for Coopers & Lybrand LLP (now PricewaterhouseCoopers). Before joining Coopers & Lybrand in 1990, he managed the Las Vegas office of Mountain West Research, a regional economics firm based in Phoenix, Arizona. Prior to heading up Mountain West Research, John was the Chief Operating Officer of a 40-person regional planning and civil engineering firm based in New Orleans.
John speaks regularly before a variety of business groups on a wide range of topics related to real estate, gaming and economic trends in Nevada. He has been quoted extensively in the local, regional and national media on real estate and economics issues facing Las Vegas and the Western U.S.
He has a B.A. in Economics from the University of Louisiana. He also holds a M.A. in Latin American Studies/Economics from Louisiana State University-Baton Rouge. John is the former Chair of the Nevada Mining Oversight and Accountability Commission appointed by Governor Sandoval, and a member of the board and former president (2008) of NAIOP of Southern Nevada. He is also a member of the Southern Nevada Water Authority Integrated Resources Planning Committee and sits on the Board of Vegas PBS. John served on the Nevada Economic Forum from 2008-2011); he was Chairman for two years.
